Amell Rotary Combustion Engine (ARCE)

    Theory, design, and Operating principles

How does it work?

The Amell RCE is an Otto Cycle Engine (Four "Stroke")

Advantages

Light weight and compact. The main advantage is the high power to weight ratio.

Fewer moving parts. No valves, connecting rods, timing chains. Intake and exhaust timing are accomplished directly by the motion of the rotors.

Kinetic utilization. The stopped rotor receives the impulse from  the explosion between the faces of the rotors and also due to the kinetic energy of the other rotor, transmitted through the gas compression. This permits an important fuel saving.

assuring the sealing  of the combustible chamber without significant stress in contrast with the traditional engines.

Lower revolutions. Rotation of the output shaft 360º vs. one cycle of 12 combustions.

New materials. The compact structure of the rotors make possible the construction of this motor with Ceramic material, that provides large advantages in the adjustment of the rotors, by not to have expansion problems and not  lubrication is necessary.

Applications: Hybrid Engines, Aeronautical, Nautical, Transportation and Auto motion.

Scalable: N combustion chambers. The number of chambers can be duplicated, tripled, etc.

Realization

Prototype. The construction of a prototype (see video) has allowed us to check the efficiency of mechanical transmission system and the thermal cycle.
